Day 28, August 11,2017 – Alsisar to Hissar
Distance – 130 kilometres.
Duration – 8 hours.
Today was special for Sunita – she entered her home state Haryana after cycling through 6 states. Her family relatives and friends from her town were all eagerly waiting to welcome her at Hissar. Hailing from the town of Rewari Sunita is truly a Haryanvi girl to the core. This is reflected in her straight speaking simplicity and tremendous physical and mental strength not to mention her obsession with milk and “luni ghee‘ parathas.
Her ride from Alsisar to Hissar was smooth except that the Northern sun was very strong and Sunita had to stop often to keep herself hydrated.
The founder of Omni Sangha Om Sat GuruDev (more popularly identified as “pahadi wale guruji“) along with
Shri Hansrajji and Mrs Rajbala joined up with Sunita on the highway and accompanied her as she entered Hissar.Omni Sangha is the chief sponsor of this Solo Cycling Expedition. On the way they made an impromptu stop at a school to interact with the students. Inspired by Omni Sangha Sunita gave an important message to the students on environment conservation “The best way you can celebrate any important occasion in your life is to plant a tree- be it a birthday, a good result, a promotion, a anniversary , a festival or any other happy moment”. The children took a pledge to plant a sapling on 15 August this year.
Sunita then went to Ford Motors where a function had been arranged in her honour. She interacted with the 120 plus employees and shared her experiences.
A grand welcome and celebration was organised at Gurjar Dharamshala. There was a large crowd waiting to meet this courageous girl from Rewari who had already cycled 3000 plus kilometres to reach Hissar and was on her way to Khardungla. She was felicitated with a huge garland made of real money – an interesting way of showing appreciation. TV channels and journalists were present to cover this momentous occasion.
The icing on the cake which made todays day even more special was that she got to meet her father, mother, brother, bhabhi and their two children. It was indeed a happy and emotional family reunion.
Special thanks to the “Omni Sangha” NGO for supporting this noble mission.
