Day 26, August 9, 2017, Kishangarh to Sikar
Distance – 150 kilometres
Duration – 8 hours
If one was to describe Sunita 26th day, it could easily be called ‘eventful’. She reached Narainpura to a thunderous
welcome around 1100. Her first stop was Rajkiya Adarsh Uchcha Madhyamik Vidyalaya where small children awaited her with their toothy smiles. A grand function was organized in her honor where she distributed prizes to children and planted five saplings. She was greeted by the Sarpanch of the place, not a macho man sporting a long heavy moustache, as one would imagine in a Rajasthan village, but a woman, all dressed in red with a demure smile with a befitting name-Lali Devi Gurjar.
From Narainpura she cycled to Kanchman to meet the SDM Shri Ramsukh Gurjar known for his work towards social causes. He was encouraging towards her mission and contributed to planting more saplings towards the cause.
She reached Sikar in the evening and took her first retreat at a Gujjar Chhatrawas where she planted more saplings with the residents of the hostel to reinforce her message of a cleaner- greener environment.
Her next stop was a known Doctor and his wife at Sikar who were her host for the evening. The environment snsitve freak that Sunita is, she was awestruck to see their wonderful house, full of environment friendly amenities. What caught her attention were the sports facilities built within the complex and how every member of the family showed passion towards sports. She found the house very eco friendly as every effort was taken to conserve energy and water. The doctor also took care of her injuries occurred during her mishap at Khandala.
When she hit the bed at night in the house of her environment conscious hosts she thought, if only there were more people in this world who cared about conservation of nature, this world would have been a better place to live in.
